Hi! Does spaying helps to prevent UTI in female dogs? Also, which one is better, laser spaying or traditional spaying? Any suggestions on how to prevent UTI from reoccurring the third time would be helpful.

Hi! Spaying does help in reduces the risk of getting pyometra, uterine and mammary gland cancer etc. But UTI can develope in spayed female dog. As for the laser or traditional spaying techniques, the only difference between the two is laser technique uses laser for incision making while scalpel is used in traditional method. Laser technique can reduce the chance of infection and bleeding as the laser helps in cauterisation of the incision site, hence reducing the recovery period.

Routine grooming, providing fresh clean water, providing balanced diet, plenty of excercise and time to releive themselves time to time can prevent UTI from occuring. Regular general check up by vet can also help in identifying any problems before anything becomes serious.

Spaying won't directly help to solve the issue, female dogs can sometimes develop ascending infection post estrus but there can be several other reasons. I think what you want to know is if laproscopy is better/ open surgery, laproscopy is more advanced but open surgeries are done more routinely and patients recover quite fast with either. If it's happening for the third time I would suggest getting an ultrasound scan done and also a culture and sensitivity test to see if there is an underlying cause.

We've got the CBC analysis done to rule out any kidney problems, culture and sensitivity test is done too and urine analysis as well. I have attached the test results as well. Kindly suggest.

We would have to discuss patient history and all of these reports with you in detail. I would suggest taking an appointment with one of us for a audio/ video consultation.
