We adopted a spitz and he is deaf. He has a lot of aggression on being touch on face or otherwise and snaps at random things but he's super nervous at the same time. Any tips on how to handle him better?

Yes!! it can be given in small quantities. It has soothing effect and also it strengthens the immune system. But make sure it's just 1/4th teaspoon or less as it contains sugar and too much of it can have adverse effects.
