Hi Himanshu! Yes neutering does have both pros and cons but the pros outweigh the cons in this case. Neutering will definately eliminate the chance of testicular cancer, reduce risk of hormone related diseases, prostate enlargement or infections which can be life threatening for your dog. Along with that aggression issue or roaming issues will also be resolved.

Yes the surgery process might feel jarring but the veterinary surgical techniques and equipments have come a long way and are quite safe. Do talk to your vet about any medicine allergy or any health issues that you have observed before the surgery so that they can perform the surgery smoothly. Pre surgery check up will also help in determining if your dog is fit for surgery or not so there shouldnt be any issues.

Yes neutered dog have a risk of obesity however proper controlled diet and excersise can prevent that from happening. As far as mood swings is concerned the first few days dogs might behave differently because of the surgery and anaesthetics but there should'nt be any permanant mood swings.

Male dogs are primarily neutered for birth control , secondarily to manage any behavioral issues due to secondary sexual characters (such as humping/mounting, marking ,aggression to other males , escape during mating season etc) . The tertiary reason is to reduce possibility of hormone based issues such as prostate hyperplasia, perineal tumours /testicular tumours.

Drawbacks could be obesity if feeding is not regulated , rare cases of male incontinence and rare cases of anaesthesia/ surgical complications. Appropriate age of neutering and other tests before going ahead with surgery are desired
