Hello doctor. From 3-4 days, my cat is showing symptoms of Feline Hyperesthesia. Initially we thought it’s fleas infestation and gave him spot on, then took him to doctor and doctor has given deworming as well. But even after that his symptoms haven’t changed and his behaviour is resembling the videos for Feline Hyperesthesia. Is this common? Can I connect with any doctor specialised on the same? His symptoms right now include licking himself aggressively, biting himself in pain areas & running around the entire house in pain and then repeating the same thing again. His lower back skin & tail keeps twitching as well. Please let me know which doctor to connect with for consultation on this.

Hi Kriti. Can you attach a video of the same ? Are there any active lesions on his body ? If so, could you please share pictures?

No lesions. Attached a video of him running around & licking, he has done this more than 7-8 times today.

Noted. The video and the symptoms you mentioned are suggestive of Feline hyperesthsia syndrome. But it needs a proper clinical examination. The main reason for FSH is dermatological cause, but it could also be due to neurological or psychological issue. You can anyhow use a catnip spray/plant and observe for a few days. But it’s best to get a clinical examination done from a veterinary physician.
