Cooper has been very itchy since sometime last night/this morning. He was itching near his face so I kept checking his ears but there was nothing. Just noticing two bumps near one of his eyes, attaching pictures for reference. I felt his eyes/face looked a little swollen this evening but thought it was because he had just woken from a nap. What could this be and what can I give him for relief? (Please ignore the red inside his eyes and droopy eyes, he's sleepy as it's late and I'm trying to take a clear picture.) I've started applying ice pack just now and will put some aloe vera to see if he's able to sleep without being irritated.

Hi Ishita. It could be a meibomian gland inflammation/mite infestation/any bacterial infection. It’s advisable to get him clinically examined thoroughly by booking a home consultation for the correct diagnosis or treatment.

Thank you for responding, doctor! It has completely gone now though. It seems he had aggravated something by itching. Unrelated to this, what can I do to improve his gut health? Every time he comes back from boarding, he has loose motions and sometimes vomits. Last time it was very severe, with blood in his stool. We did a vet checkup by Kuddle with a blood test and nothing seemed wrong. He recovered in a few days with usual medication. What precautions or changes to make in the long term that would help?

Good to know that. That’s one of the problems every alternate pet faces post boarding. You will have to strictly instruct the concerned person to not change your pets diet. It either happens when there’s a sudden change in the diet or by getting infections from other affected pets. You can also keep copper on syrup Digyton starting prior to boarding and stopping after a week post boarding.

I just adopted a Shih Tzu who is 10 months old. He lived with other pups. Got him today and he hasn't eaten or passed loo or poo.. from the time we got him home. Will he be okay. Is this normal in the breed? I have had other big breeds this is the first time with shih Tzu so am confused as am facing the situation first time.
