Hi Tejal. One should thoroughly clean the wound with any carbolic soap under running tap water, apply Povidone iodine ointment and get Anti rabies injections.

Thanks doctor. Is the anti-rabies injection mandatory even if the cat is fully vaccinated?

It depends. If the bite is provoked/happened while playing or if the pet is completely vaccinated and showing no signs of rabies (hypersalivation, hyper aggression or tendency of unprovoked biting) then a post bite vaccination isn’t required. Anyhow the pet parents fall under risk category, it’s advisable to take a pre bite vaccination for the prevention.

I want to put up three of my kittens for adoption because handling 9 cats is proving to be too much for my mom and since I live in a different city for college and my dad is constantly out for work, she doesn't have much help. All three are 5 months old and vaccinated for rabies. There are two males (black and slim orange) known as Ronaldo and Neymar and a female called Fairy (fluffy orange fur). We live in Siliguri, West Bengal but are willing to travel depending on proximity, and ease of time.

I recently adopted an Indie. His teeth, I think they are premolars, were extremely yellow, almost brown. The vet prescribed a medicine and it was very effective. Results were visible next morning. Now please suggest if I should include oral health care sticks in routine. If yes, do you recommend any?
