Dogs are mostly allergic to proteins like chicken, milk, meat, plant proteinsand gluten. Allergy due to apples and vegetables are rare but they may cause digestive issues.

Okay, is there any test which can be done to check?

Dr. Supriya
Eliminate one particular protein for 1 month if the skin issues get better later challange the dog with eliminated protein if skin issues reappear we can consider that dog is allergic to it.

Hii kumar, if your pet is facing skin issues repeatedly try to choose single protein based food either chicken or fish

Dr. Supriya
N&D , Arden grange, orijen etc dog food brands are available. If your pet is facing skin issues choose grain free diet or hypoallergenic diet containing single protein

his current dog food has 40% chicken and 20% duck. Is it okay to switch from current one to N&D Quinoa Skin and Coat Duck dry food? or is there a more suitable alternative? Any chance he can be allergic to duck?
0
Dr. Supriya
Here we are trying to eliminate chicken and replace it with fish or duck because his major source of protein was chicken. We will eliminate one protein at a time and see the changes.

Okay but I wanted to give u some medical history of Dunzo: For the past couple of months, he has been receiving almost monthly medication due to bacterial & fungal infections, starting with Hestacef, itracanozole 100 mg due to persistent shaking his head, itching his face 4-5 times on a daily basis/scratching constantly licking his paws, red spots on his body Vet examined it's general dermatitis & wet eczema on 12th Sept (1/3)

After a brief halt, the issue resurfaced by 2nd wk Nov, advised apoquel, omega+ syrup & multivitamin, flutibact oint to apply on red/black spots and weekly medicated spa While these medicines are effective during medication, the itching has resumed, primarily on his face, and he scratches around 4-5 times daily (2/3)

Now, do you think current food is the major concern? (3/3)

It looks like he is having skin issues from long time. Before changing his diet I would recommend you to book a video consultation to differentiate between skin allergies/ infections.

Hi my dog has these red bumps/bites all over her body. It’s more evident on her neck but it’s all over. Does anyone know what this is?
