My female golden is now 2.9 yrs old. We planned on spaying her but some or the other health issues prevented it. Like last year she was diagnosed with babesiosis, so we postponed. She just concluded her heat last month. Now we are planning. My question is, is there any risk if we don't get her spayed at all. We have a large yard and she runs around in that during her heat, so no risk of unplanned pregnancy etc. please advise. Thanks.

Hi Sridhar. Yes. Even if the risk of unwanted pregnancy is avoided, pet will be highly proned to other problems like pyometra( pus filled uterus), tumours and infections of mammary gland and uterus. Apart from this, a dog in heat goes through stress each time with agitated behaviour. So, it’s better to get her spayed than opting to leave her intact.
