My kittie died of FCoV which mutated into FIP. How many days the traces of this FCoV can survive on the things in the house? I wanted to bring new kittens home to help myself come out of the stress I'm going through. its been 7 days since he died 💔

Hi Deepika. FCoV is a relatively fragile virus but can be destroyed easily by most household disinfectants and detergents. However in cold and dry conditions like the present weather, it can survive up to 1 month or more on materials like carpet, litter box etc. it’s best to discard the whole litter box. Indirect transmission also happens from clothes, toys or grooming materials. But this is for a short time of 7 days. I would suggest you to wait for at least one month to get a new one.
