If the pup has just come to you I would suggest to not make any dietary changes for the first few days to avoid stress. You can start with boiled egg white and over cooked white rice mashed up together or chicken broth with shredded boneless chicken pieces with rice, but don't make a sudden change in diet instead do it gradually over a period of a few days. If you prefer to shift to commercial dog food then start with starter food soaked in water. He should be fed 4 equally spaced out meals, once in 6 hours
