Recovery varies, depending on the dog, care taken and weather. She will be distressed for the first week, their behavior is a good indicator of whether the internal healing is done.

Hi! It would be better to wait 1-2 months after the first heat cycle for spaying. Atleast 2 weeks of monitoring and care would be required after the surgery. You might observe some drowsiness from the anaesthesia in your dog for the first few hours. You can provide a quite place for them to recover from the anaesthesia. After about 2 days your dog might be back to normal but restrict from any jumping, running or heavy activities for the dog as it may cause rupture of the stitches.

Regular checking of the wound for any swelling, redness or discomfort is also required to treat any infection if that ever happens. Moreover before the surgery a full check up will be done by the vet and a through post surgery management will be explained by the vet.
