Hi dr I hav a male shihtzu of one year old I just wanted to ask is it common to lick the genital area?....if no how can I avoid him licking the genital area

Hi Keerthi. Occasional licking as a part of hygiene is common but a frequent lick can be an indication for an allergy or infection. Check the area for discharge/redness/swelling. If anything such is noticed, get him examined from a vet.
