The most common reason for something like this in cats would be dermatophytosis. It can also be flea bite allergy, please apply a fipronil spray if you see any fleas on the body. For the affected area you can use dermichlor spray twice a day for 10 days, if it doesn't reduce/ increase further please take him for a physical examination.
